Position Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and be mentored in order to lead in all aspects of Catholic nonprofit leadership. They will provide support to other departments through the following areas:
- Provide support to the Senior Manager of Legal Services in the Management of Various Legal Matters, including contracts, ERM program, compliance and other special projects.
- Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Assist in the oversight and management of the ERM program, working closely with risk leaders across the apostolate. Handle the insurance renewal process for FOCUS.
- General legal matters: This will involve working closely with departments and communicating with lawyers, undertaking legal research across a variety of areas (e.g. Contracts, dispute resolution, commercial, religious freedom), communicating with external parties, etc. Includes serving as the main point of contact for many legal matters at FOCUS.
- Administrative tasks: Submit invoices, keep legal and risk budget on track, coordinate legal meetings and communicate with outside counsel on legal projects and tasks. Assist with clerical tasks such as managing documents and contract life management system, scheduling appointments, and communicating with departments and legal team on important legal tasks.
- Compliance program: Assist in the development of the corporate compliance program, including conducting internal audits and monthly reporting to senior leadership.
- Special projects: Drive forward the legal and non-legal special projects, for example: assisting in the development of the corporate compliance program.
- Assist VP of Legal and Europe, and Senior Advisor to the CEO.

Qualifications
- A practicing Catholic or Christian in good standing with the Catholic Church. There is no other background, qualification, or experience that can substitute for this requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Experience with risk management, project management, compliance and administrative work preferred
- Paralegal certificate or prior experience working in legal field desirable/willingness to obtain certification
- Approximately 2-4 years of professional experience, especially in the legal field, is desirable
Compensation & Benefits
For this role, we anticipate paying $60,000 - $75,000/year. This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.
