Position Mission
The Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) has one mission: to know Christ Jesus and fulfill His Great Commission. Since 1998, FOCUS missionaries have invited college students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, inspiring and equipping them for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization, discipleship and friendships in which they lead others to do the same. Through Bible studies, one-on-one discipleship, conferences and mission trips, missionaries walk alongside students in their journey of faith, encouraging them to live out lifelong Catholic mission.
The Director or Sr. Manager of Parish Formation position exists to lead the formation of Parish staff (and those they serve) so as to fulfill the mission of FOCUS: to know Christ Jesus and fulfill His Great Commission. This includes responsibilities chiefly related to department leadership, staff and participant formation, and resource creation. Title dependent upon experience and ability.
Position Responsibilities
Parish Staff Formation
1. Lead the development of formation and training for Parish staff, including:
- Summer Formation
- Ongoing Formation
- Staff Mentorship
- New Hire Onboarding
- New Formative Initiatives
2. Collaborate in the strategic direction of Parish formation, including:
- Parish Missionary and Parish Leadership Formation
- Priest Accompaniment
- Diocesan Engagement
- New Apostolic Initiatives
4. Teach and speak for Parish formation initiative
Parish Events
- Develop the sequence of content, prepare teachers and speakers, and oversee effective implementation of Parish formation events, including:
- Summer Formation
- Pastor Summit
- SEEK MMD Track
- Mobilize weekends
- Additional Parish events
Curriculum
Collaborate in developing FOCUS curricular resources that support Parish Formation including:
- Discipleship articles
- Bible studies
- Digital Resources
Management
Effectively lead and manage staff and projects related to Parish formation, this includes responsibilities related to:
- Lead and coach staff to “A Performance” in their roles.
- Determine ongoing hiring needs for Parish formation.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders and external partners to effectively support Parish formation.
- Determine the need for and direction of Parish formation projects.
Cultivate Divine Intimacy
1. Daily prayer (Holy-half hour minimum, allowed during work hours) and regular participation in DSC rosary and DSC Divine Mercy Chaplet
2. Avail yourself of other spiritual opportunities (see Guidelines for Divine Intimacy at the DSC policy).
3. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, and maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people outside of FOCUS.
4. Live out the moral life in Christ (see e.g. Oath of Fidelity and relevant policies)
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience or staff leadership with FOCUS preferred
- Undergraduate degree in related field preferred / required
- Strong competency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel
Compensation & Benefits
For this role, we anticipate paying $60,000 - $150,000/year. This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.
